A New Driver

Well, we have a new driver in the house today. I took Braedon down to get his license this morning. His appointment was at 8:15. I wasn’t concerned until I was getting out of the car to let the instructor in. I casually asked “how long is it going to take?” The instructor replied coolly “Twenty minutes… if he makes it that long. Just being realistic”. I immediately got a knot in my stomach and was worried the entire time they were gone. When they pulled in I watched as Braedon turned off the car and the instructor writing away then pointing her finger all over the place. I was sure he had not passed. As he slowly exited the vehicle and come around the back of the car he shot me a huge smile with the thumbs up. So proud… and relived.

Later that day I told Breadon he could now drove himself to swim. When he cam back I excited asked him”How was your first independent drive?”. His response was of a typical teenager “Fine”.  Little does he know this opens the doors to a wonderful new freedom.
